Code of conduct
How we treat each other
Short version: be kind, be helpful, don't be a jerk. The longer version is below — it applies everywhere Age of AGI exists, online and off.
The basics
- Be welcoming. Make space for people who are new, nervous, or just different from you.
- Be respectful. Disagree with ideas, never attack the person.
- Be helpful. If you can unblock someone, do — that's the whole point of this place.
- Assume good intent. Most friction is a misunderstanding, not an attack.
Four small rules that keep us kind
Borrowed from the Recurse Center — tiny habits that quietly make a community feel safe for beginners.
No well-actually's
Don't interrupt someone with a pedantic correction that doesn't actually help. If a detail matters, share it kindly and in context.
No feigning surprise
Don't act shocked that someone doesn't know a thing ('wait, you've never used Git?!'). It just teaches people to hide what they don't know.
No backseat driving
Don't lob unsolicited advice across the room into a conversation you're half-listening to. Join properly or let it be.
No subtle -isms
Small biases — about gender, race, background, or skill level — add up. We call them out gently and move on; no shame spiral needed.
Not okay here
- Harassment, bullying, or personal attacks of any kind.
- Hate speech or discrimination based on who someone is.
- Spam, scams, or relentless self-promotion.
- Sharing someone's private information without consent.
- Making the space unsafe or unwelcoming on purpose.
If something goes wrong
If you see or experience something that breaks this code, tell an admin in the community or message us — we read every report and act on it. You won't be 'that person' for speaking up; protecting the room is exactly what we're here for. Serious or repeated violations mean removal, no debate.
